Eating disorders are significantly on the increase especially in our western world, due to the continuous exposure to the media, celebrity culture, magazines, etc. giving us the message that ‘only thin is in’. Eating Disorders usually occur in teenage years, but research is now showing that they are occurring in children too.

 

Individuals experiencing an eating disorder, will have an overwhelming fear and paranoia of gaining weight and then see themselves only as’ fat’. However there are many other reasons why people develop eating disorders, such as childhood experiences, other illnesses, etc.

Eating disorders are very treatable with the help of Counselling & Psychotherapy.
